Toby Goodchild is a well known, highly regarded Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. Having joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1989 as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) he has gained an impressive 26 years experience within the industry, training and working with clients from all walks of life: elite special forces soldiers, professional sportsmen and women and everyday people. He has also appeared on national and local TV, radio and press. During his time in the Royal Air Force, Toby spent 5 years serving with UK Special Forces working in desert, jungle and arctic environments. He also had the honor to be specially selected as Coach of the world renowned Royal Air Force Falcons Freefall Parachute Display Team completing over 6000 skydives. Both positions are highly sought after and only entrusted to the most experienced instructors.
Having served 25 years as a Physical Training Instructor and Freefall Parachute Jump Instructor, Toby was retired from the service after suffering a major back injury, undergoing two major spinal operations and a solid 18 months of rehabilitation.
“As a young Physical Training Instructor I took my energy for granted. I worked hard and trained hard; it was my way of life, what I did and I loved it. I had little understanding of why others did not enjoy it or why they struggled to keep going, to stay focused and sharp. Over the years I gained more experience and it became clear to me that the difference is in the way in which individuals are able to manage and harness their personal energy and mental strength. With intense performance comes challenge and stress and whilst these are healthy and necessary for personal, physical and mental growth, it is our ability to deal with these peak periods that is the essential. Energy is our most critical resource, not time. It is the energy you bring to that time that counts. The key to high performance and being exceptional is how you harness, increase and manage that energy.
It is from these core beliefs and the passion and experience in helping others to and reach their potential that FITBEING was ‘born’.
